ARTE Riff Mountain: turning music culture into a world you can play

ARTE Riff Mountain is an ARTE and SoWhen? co-production developed in partnership with Hellfest. The experience transforms metal culture into a Fortnite world featuring a mountain, four clans, quests, puzzles, a narrative, and multiple ways to play.
What the project demonstrates: a cultural media organization can enter Fortnite with a strong editorial point of view. Gameplay does more than keep players busy; it introduces them to a culture, artists, and influences. The island was also designed as an evolving space that can host new experiences over time.
Turbo Killer Experience: journeying through music

Within ARTE Riff Mountain, the Carpenter Brut experience transforms “Turbo Killer” into an interactive race. Up to four players move through a gamified show where vehicles, rhythm, visual effects, and action respond to the music.
What the project demonstrates: a track can become a game mechanic. For an artist or label, Fortnite can serve as an interactive stage provided the experience remains true to the music’s energy and aesthetic.
Pogo Car Crash Control Music Runner: playing to the beat

In the world of ARTE Riff Mountain, music is not just heard it is experienced and played. Developed in collaboration with Wagram Music and Panenka around a track by Pogo Car Crash Control, this music runner offers a rhythmic course where players progress in direct connection with the music.
The experience is part of ARTE Riff Mountain’s lore: players and their clans follow the Riff Divinity as they train to fight the threat of the Mainstream, collecting inspiration throughout the course.
What the project demonstrates: a track can become a complete playable experience. Rhythm, narrative, and gameplay work together to extend the musical universe beyond listening and give players an active way to explore it.
