From creative concept to full production under Unreal Engine, our teams collaborated closely with Michelin to create this partnership film displayed on a large LED screen at Alpine’s “Piste Bleue” in Le Mans—the Alpine experience center located near the legendary racing circuit, dedicated to brand enthusiasts and customers.

Objective: Showcasing a Historic Partnership

The main challenge was to illustrate the Michelin and Alpine collaboration in an immersive and innovative way. Our objective was twofold: seamlessly integrating two powerful brands into a coherent narrative while elegantly highlighting their rich and complementary histories.

The Michelin-Alpine Partnership

Michelin and Alpine share a prestigious history dating back to the 1960s, marked by numerous major sporting achievements such as victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monte-Carlo Rally. This historical collaboration is built on shared values: technological innovation, continuous pursuit of performance, and strong team spirit. The film celebrates this iconic partnership and heralds an exciting future.

Creative Approach: Harmony of Past and Future

Inspired by our previous film created for the 100-year anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, we developed a film that artfully blends archival footage with new content produced in real-time 3D using Unreal Engine. This bold fusion allows visitors at the experience center to journey between heritage and innovation.

Innovative Production Method: Optimized Collaboration

To ensure efficient, high-quality production, we optimized our process by leveraging and enriching Michelin’s existing 3D digital assets.

Using Lumen technology, we implemented a real-time iterative approach, creating two distinct environments within the film:

  • A showroom featuring a calm and sophisticated atmosphere, highlighting the historical and elegant design.
  • A racetrack with a dynamic and aggressive ambiance, providing full immersion into the action.

Cutting-Edge Technologies: Realism and Immersion

To enhance visual impact, we developed a real-time video projection system within Unreal Engine. This innovative system projects archival images directly onto the car and throughout the showroom space, adapting seamlessly to varied video sources. Lumen technology accurately captures reflections and lighting nuances on the car’s surface, significantly amplifying the realism.

Additionally, to expedite production without compromising realism, we introduced a dynamic car guidance system that accurately simulates realistic driving, including precise suspension and physical reactions.

Challenges Met: Harmonizing Two Iconic Brands

One of the key artistic and technical challenges was authentically showcasing an iconic car while ensuring balanced and harmonious coexistence of both partner brands.

The result? An immersive film that reflects the rich heritage and forward-looking vision of the Michelin-Alpine partnership, offering visitors an unforgettable experience aligned with the ambitions of Alpine’s “Piste Bleue.”
