An interactive stylized virtual universe designed to showcase Valeo's products

This virtual universe is an evolving tool that was unveiled at the Munich IAA (Valeo showroom).

WHY THIS VIRTUAL WORLD? VALEO AIMED FOR A SOLUTION THAT COULD IMMERSIVELY AND INTERACTIVELY SHOWCASE ITS ELECTRIC ENGINES IN THEIR CONTEXTS

The objectives of this interactive and immersive virtual world

Presenting technological and mechanical products is no easy task: their understanding is complex due to the intricate assembly of sometimes very small (micro) components that fit together. When presented in their raw form to the public, this type of product is not easily accessible.

At the heart of the electrification revolution, through its Powertrain Systems division, Valeo develops and manufactures innovative solutions to enhance today’s engines and design the electric mobility of tomorrow.

Valeo sought a way to present its products in a playful, immersive, and accessible manner. The idea was for its audience to comprehend its various products related to electric mobility, understand how they work, and grasp their compositions.

The application was initially introduced in the form of an interactive digital platform at the IAA exhibition, allowing the target audience to explore the contextual virtual universe and thereby discover and closely observe different electric vehicles equipped with Valeo engines.

Challenges of this 3D application

  • Managing and processing a large quantity of complex 3D models
  • optimizing them for both performance and material fidelity. In total, 12 engine models were processed, including all their internal components.
  • Creating 3D representations of vehicles that accurately reflect various market segments.

Our mission for creating this stylized virtual brand universe

FROM CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT TO IMPLEMENTATION AT THE EXHIBITION AND BEYOND

We partnered with our client Valeo right from the conceptual stage to streamline and optimize the needs and objectives associated with the creation of this system.

Subsequently, our teams worked on designing and producing the immersive and interactive virtual universe, aligning it with the brand’s visual identity. This involved optimizing the 3D assets, integrating them, and animating them.

This initial block of the virtual universe represents the first segment of Valeo’s activity.

The animated 3D city showcases Valeo’s cityscape with various types of moving vehicles: urban cars, sports cars, SUVs, drones, scooters, bicycles, as well as charging stations.

Visitors can choose to closely examine the functioning of each vehicle’s engines by selecting them. The engines can be opened to reveal their compositions with 3D exploded views and information about customer benefits.

Finally, we implemented several systems using Unreal Engine to provide an accessible and engaging user experience.

The universe continues to evolve; its second version presented at this year’s CES introduced additional types of information to provide a deeper explanation of their products and the addition of new products.

To enhance its usability, we extracted certain media elements to create other cost-effective passive assets: videos, photos, etc.
